Since U.S. patents and federal trademarks are creations of federal law and the United States Patent & Trademark Office is a federal agency, I do not have to live in your state or be a member of your state bar to file a patent or federal trademark application for you.  I work with clients all over the United States, many of whom I have never met face-to-face.  Although I would be glad to arrange a meeting with you, it is not necessary.  We can communicate by e-mail, over the telephone, or through the postal mail.

The professional responsibility rules of the USPTO and all state bars prohibit attorneys from revealing client confidences like invention disclosure.  Any information you disclose to me regarding your invention will be held in the strictest confidence regardless of whether or not you engage my services.  If you have concerns about confidentiality you may call the USPTO's Office of Enrollment and Discipline at (571) 272-4097.
